What wild fruit can be found growing here in Florida?
Florida is home to many plants, both native and non-native that will produce fruit. All you have to do is venture out into the lush wilderness and start exploring. During the months of April-June, wild blueberry, blackberry, and passionfruit can be found on scenic trails in pretty much all of our state forests. In August-Oct, muscadine grape, persimmon and pawpaw (relative of soursop) can be found growing as well. These fruits are all native to our state. However, every once in a while, you may stumble upon something not so native. I've come across many wild citrus species, papaya, banana and even raspberries on my hikes here in Central Florida. Even though they are considered invasive, finding any fruit tree growing wild is always a treat.
